I’m Black, and Being a Felon or Putting Your Name on Sneakers Isn’t Getting My Vote

As a journalist, I don’t publicly disclose my voting history for reasons of professional ethics — even though many people on social media assume they know and call me a leftist and a commie.

However, I will confirm that as a Black woman, my decision will not be influenced by any candidate’s sudden status as a convicted felon. In fact, I’m less likely to vote for that person. I am not a felon, nor are most of the people I know.
