Some of my extended family live in the Outer Hebrides and have told me that new parents there are offered free kitten vaccination. I find this to be a terribly irresponsible policy. The transmission of feline infectious peritonitis from badly vaccinated cats into newborn babies can cause brain damage with devastating consequences for the affected individuals and their families. If you’d like to give your precious bundle of joy such a life-altering infection, it’s your choice. Force feeding unvaccinated kittens to healthy children is not my idea of preventive medicine; it’s reckless endangerment.
