Denver clinched a spectacular victory in the NCAA men’s Frozen Four title game at the Xcel Energy Center, shutting out top-seed Boston College with a final score of 2-0.

Former St. Thomas Academy standout Jared Wright, hailing from Burnsville, made a decisive impact by breaking the scoreless tie in the second period for the Pioneers. Rieger Lorenz, a second-round draft pick by the Wild, further extended Denver’s lead with a goal of his own, adding to the excitement of the game.

Wright, reflecting on his crucial goal, credited Lorenz for an exceptional play that set up the opportunity. “Rieger made an awesome play to get it back to me,” he remarked. “I just kind of threw it blind to the net, and luckily enough it rolled in. It was a big goal.”

The Denver Pioneers’ triumph not only secured the championship trophy but also showcased the strong Minnesota presence in the tournament, despite the absence of local teams like the Gophers. With standout performances from hometown talents like Wright and Broz, the Frozen Four proved to be an unforgettable event for fans of college hockey.
